My obsession with watches is well-known by my friends. A few weeks ago I was over at one of my friends' apartment and he mentioned a watch his father had given him a few years ago but had since broken. He said it was nothing special but still kinda neat, so I asked to see it. He went to his room and pulled out a Seiko 5T52-6A38 World Timer in great condition (serial number indicates it was manufactured in 1993). The small seconds hand had popped off and the battery was dead, but it was in great condition otherwise.
I told him a bit about the watch and said I'd be happy to fix it up, so a couple weeks later he dropped it off at my place and I got to work on it. Case back off, stems out, and replaced the small seconds hand, then ordered a new battery. Thank you, Amazon Prime. Today I finished my work by installing the new battery, setting the time, adjusting the time zone indicator hand, and setting the GMT function. Cleaned up the case and it's all set to go back to my very happy friend! My favorite part was signing my initials and dating the inside of the case back for the work done. A little piece of history for the next person to open it up.
Edit: thanks for the gold!
Aloha Members, I just got a Seiko 5T52 World Timer Quartz watch that seemed to function properly when I first received it. I have since discovered that the hour hand stops at 11:30 PM and the date wheel.there is no day wheel. Will not flip over to the next date either automatically, or manually, by turning the crown for a 24 hour setting change. There are 3 sub-dials on this watch.
At the 12 position there is a GMT clock, at the 9 position there is a normal 60 second hand, and at the 6 position is a 2 function alarm. On top of the hour and minute hands there is a pointer that can be set to various cities around the dial. There is the normal crown for hand setting and date advance, a crown for the alarm setting, and 3 push buttons for various settings and functions.
It seems that I will have to remove the dial and inspect the hour wheel and date wheel for the hang up or obstruction to advance to the next date. Here's where the fun begins. I will have to remove and re-install 8 hands. The input I need is.when refitting all of the hands, do I advance the watch until the date wheel flips at 12 AM and then proceed to set all of the hands in a 12 o'clock position?
I think I do, but would appreciate any input/support on this. Thanks, Louis Edited April 8, 2015 by ricardopalamino. Hello all, my name is Jakob. I recently got into servicing mechanical watches at home. My question is now what i need (at minimum) to be able to start cleaning (and oiling) parts. I live in Sweden and can not seem to find any good cleaning solutions to buy.
Is it a good idea to soak the parts in pure white spirit (mineral spirit) and then letting the parts dry? Is that enought? Then when it comes to oiling, what oils is a must? Is it enought to but Moebius 9010 and some Moebius 8300 Grease? Do I also have to get Moebius D5 or do I have to get even more?
Best regards Jakob, if I posted this in the wrong fashion please guide me to the right place.

This Age of Discovery edition has a gold tone case and stainless steel back. It has a new battery an aftermarket strap and the aftermarket buckle. The watch shows some light wear, but that does not detract from the overall appearance and it runs and keeps time accurately.
I do not know how to adjust the features since it is a very complex watch. It is being sold as is so please examine the photos before bidding. Manufacturer: Seiko Model: World Timer Watch gender: Men's Referance: 5T52 - 7A10 Case: Gold plated case, (tiny scratches) Size: 39mm without crown. Strap: Aftermarket leather strap (19cm strap lenght). With aftermarket gold plated buckle, 18mm between lugs. Movement: Seiko 5T52 quartz movement, watch works fine and keeping time good but I do not have any idea how features starts, stops and adjusts. Buttons work in different orders, everytime I press a button movement starts to work a hand but I do not know how to adjust correctly. I changed the battery 2 weeks ago asked my repairman he said these are complex calibers and it needs a manual to adjust features. Because I do not know the features correctly It is being sold as is so please know that I could not adjust other than watch and date feature.

In your case the delivery taked 3 days as usual but the customs in China does not let the watch in for 29 days and still counting. I am still after ıt trying to take information from Local Dhl agency but they are saying that there is nothing they can do for to make the process faster because of Chinese customs approach.
As I mentioned on my listings (including yours) I can not do anything about the customs expences and timings of your country. I totally understand that you paid for the watch but you never receive it, but ıt is not my fault. When you receive the watch, check it carefully and if you are not satisfied from the watch, please let me know. As I mentioned before lateness is not my or my couriers fault, it is because of Chinese customs process. Thank you, and looking forward to hearing from you.
